Angel’s Head of New Business, Colin Gittens, knows what it takes to move up from that first foot-in-the-door role to creating a career you can be proud of. That’s why he was thrilled to turn mentor for the day and help raise employment awareness for local charity Teens & Toddlers’ Young Leaders Group (YLG).
The YLG is a special initiative which helps young people to access work experience and develop skills through mentoring and community projects. And, this event, held in partnership with London Learning Consortium, at a new Team London Bridge venue, brought participants face to face with community-based employment experts – like Colin.
And, what better way to illustrate than with a story? Colin shared his personal experiences with the YLG, detailing how, from beginning as a junior banking employee, he was able to develop transferable skills and take opportunities to make moves towards his preferred career and interests.
Colin told us after:
“I had a great time with some really positive young people, and, like my mentors of the past, was able to share advice on some important employment stepping stones – which I hope will help YLG participants in their current and future development.”
He went on:
“It’s a powerful thing to be in a position to inspire others and to give something back to the London Bridge community.”
We couldn’t agree more!
